Wolfgang Wendland übers Musikgeschäft: "Die Nackt-Poster laufen gut" – SPIEGEL ONLINE.

Tja, das ist leider die traurige Realität für jeglichen Künstler, der in Personalunion Kreativer, Produzent, Booking Agent, Labelchef, Marketingabteilung und PR-Mensch ist: Am Ende muss man Nacktbilder verkaufen, um überhaupt Umsatz zu erzielen. Oder wie es Wolfgang Wendland so treffend formuliert: “Wir sind eigentlich ein Klamottenladen mit mit angeschlossenen musikalischen Dingen.” Das hatte ich mir im Zuge der “Neuen” Medien anders erhofft… (Ich hab’ schonmal ‘n Pornobild von mir layoutet, falls die Lage noch verzweifelter wird…)

Well, I’m afraid this the sad reality for any (independent) artist who is creative, producer, booking agent, label CEO, marketing and public relations staff all rolled into one person: At the end of the day, you’re forced to sell pictures with nudity in order to generate any kind of revenue. Or as Wolfgang Wendland, singer of the punk band ‘The Cashiers’ aptly says: ‘In reality, we’re a shop selling clothes with some added-on musical stuff.’ I had hoped for things being different with the availability of the so-called ‘new’ media… (In any case and if things become even more desperate than they already are, I’ve devised an image of me in a pornographic situation… )
